Quality vacuum at a reasonable price
Overall, another great product from Bissell.First, cons since it is a very short list: the vacuum does not lay completely flat to go under tables as other full-sized models/brands, like my Dyson. Also, this is not so much a con as it is I’m not used to the pivot. I’ve never had a vacuum with this function. It does not effect the functionality of the vacuum, just different. Weightwise, not too bad. Not the heaviest out there but is not the lightest so may be an issue for those with stairs that have strength issues.Pros: A lot. I do not know why so many models, including my Dyson, got rid of the headlamps. Love that this has them; very bright. Works great on carpet and hard floors. Canister holds quite a bit before having to be emptied, which is very simple. Washable filter is very nice instead of a one time use. Single pass is more than sufficient to vacuum up whatever is on the floor. The most surprising is the attachment labeled as the “Pet Turbo Eraser”; short of any other words, it is badass. We have 3 dogs, two of which are major shedders – a German Shepherd and a Red Merle Border Collie. Have had my Dyson for years and worked great, but it has slowed down greatly and the attachments are standard. This attachment will eat a pair of socks, with the feet still in them. Fantastic for getting pet hair out of the kickplate of the stairs.Bissell definitely caters to pet owners. Have had their home steam cleaner for close to 15 years and still works like new with very regular usage. 3 dogs carry a lot dirt but we love ’em!We will see if this holds up as long as the steam cleaner does. Bought this to replace my Dyson and paid a third of the price. Even if this only last 5-7 years, I think that is a very sound investment considering the constant heavy usage.

Bissell Lift Off, model 2998 (not slim). By far best pet hair remover I’ve ever owned. I’ve always had cats and I’ve used a lot of different vacuums that say pet this or pet hair that. Plus I work construction digging in the street and in yards and get plenty dirty. I’ve never once had a vacuum that the hair removal tool actually did much of anything let alone had real power behind it. And I’ve never had to empty the canister of any vacuum after one use let alone twice. Especially in a 2 floor house that’s mostly hardwood except handfull of area rugs. If I had wall to wall carpet I’d probably have to empty it after every room and it’s a decent sized canister. PRO’s Decent suction on both wand and vacuum. Can switch between floor bristles moving or not. Light on the base makes it clear how much you don’t see. Detachable base makes doing the stairs easier. Lowest cost for a HEPPA filter I could find for pets. Pet hair tool actually works! Best power in any vacuum I’ve owned. Easy to clean. Slide switch on handle let’s u dictate how much suction u use. Plus a lot more. CON’s: Floor light goes off when detached from base. No extension for the wand to add more reach. Tho the wand itself without the hose is 30″ long. Those are my only two gripes. Every time I’ve used this since I bought it I’m blown away by how much hair it picks up compared other “Pet hair” vacuums. I was hesitant because the air filter is in the front because my Dirt Devil’s was too and most of the cat hair ended up back on the floor after being blown up into the air. For whatever reason this Bissell doesn’t.

A Fairly Comprehensive Review
I just purchased this vacuum and cleaned most of the carpet in my house this weekend. Here are my thoughts:I purchased this model based entirely on the Amazon reviews. I actually have been very impressed with Shark vacuums that I have used at friends’ houses, but the Shark reviews, though generally good, seemed to be typically a few percentage points less positive than the Bissell reviews. Even more, when I looked at the one star reviews for the Shark vacuums, a large number of people complain about extremely poor customer service. I just won’t support a company that doesn’t stand behind its products. To be fair, I did later talk to a friend who had a good story to tell about Shark customer support recently. Still, the large number of complaints about poor customer service in the reviews has to give one pause.Having eliminated Shark from my prospective models, I started looking at the Bissells because they seemed to have some of the least percentages of negative reviews across the board. Many negative reviews were due to threads and hair clogging the brush roller. This model did not seem to have that problem as much, based on the reviews I read. Neither, have I, so far, had that problem with this vacuum.Other negative reviews for this model mention it being heavy and clumsy to use. Here I have to say that, being over 50, my perspective on what is heavy and clumsy seems to be quite different. I remember the clunky vacuums of yesteryear, and compared to what I am used to, this model is a veritable sports car–light weight, maneuverable, and comparatively easy to get into tight places. Perhaps compared to a cordless stick vacuum or some of the very lightweight Sharks it might be considered a bit unwieldy. Some people complained about it being hard to push on shag or high pile carpet. My carpet is a low pile, so I didn’t experience that problem, except on a small shag throw rug where the large amount of suction did require a bit of force to push the vacuum across while trying to hold the rug down with one foot. The suction on this vacuum seemed very good. Some people claim the suction is not nearly as good as a Shark or a Dyson. From my limited experience with those other vacuums, I honestly could not say. This one seems to have as much suction as any vacuum I remember using, I just can’t give an accurate comparison. Some people complain about difficulty using the various tools with the hose. The hose is a little short, but I really wouldn’t want it flopping around on the vacuum when I am using it as an upright, so this just seems like something you live with. Using the hose tools does tend to make it tip over, but the Lift-Off feature where you can separate the canister from the carpet roller base makes this pretty much a non-issue for me.What I really like about this Bissell is the intelligent design. Everything seems well thought out for efficiency and ease of use. I am not sure how well all the plastic parts will hold up with use, but most of the vacuums out there seem to be made of light weight plastic parts, so I just hope for the best. Time will tell. The cord seems a bit thin and stiff. I know they make more supple cords, but they are more expensive. Nonetheless, I think Bissell should have used a thicker, more supple cord on this unit.My only real complaint is the small size of the canister. I ended up dumping it four or five times in the course of two or three hours, but my carpet was pretty dirty. It was easy to dump without ending up breathing in a lot of the dust.Bottom line, this vacuum did a great job on my old, low pile carpet, as well as a decent job on a few tiled areas. The upholstery/stair brush attachment also seemed to work quite well. I am pleased with my purchase so far. My main concern is if it will hold up over the years (especially the plastic parts). I will definitely take away stars if it fails within the first couple of years. If it is still going strong in five years, I will. give it an unqualified five star rating.

First off, this vacuum is probably one of the best vacuums Iâve owned in the sense that it does a great job picking up. We have 2 German Shepherds and when they shed, they SHED and this vacuum makes very short work of all the fur thatâs left behind. The reason I do NOT recommend it: The unfortunate part and the reason Iâm returning it is after only a week and a half of using it Iâve had to untangle it twice, the first time was with the pet tool and the second was with the main beater bar assembly which was so bad that it stopped, began smelling and when I disassembled it to remove the tangle I found that part of the beater bar assembly had melted. The vacuum itself is great, does a great job but there is a design flaw and hopefully Bissell can get this rectified because it definitely has potential of being fantastic!

I’m not someone who usually likes to write about anything and therfore writing a review is not my top list of prioritiesHowever I felt I had to take a few minutes to share my experience with the Bissell 2998 VacuumI absolutely love this vacuum. I’m a long time loyal fan and customer of BissellThis new vacuum that I recently purchased with Amazon is amazing. First a huge thank you to Amazon for making the purchase affordable for customers with their payment planThis vacuum has above all superior suction power. It is not as noisy as my previous vacuums. It maneuvers quite well. Numerous options for the maneuvering. It’s pretty much a lightweight vacuum. What I want to point out is that there’s LED Lights built in the vacuum at the frontI have a degenerative eye condition and I have to say this feature is very important for me and I am very happy with Bissell for having this featureI am totally satisfied with my purchase

Quite impressive. I have 3 different vacuums ( one for each floor) which were quite expensive. This is my preference and works the best. I didnât think the light would matter and by golly. It hits the places I missed by my previous vacuum and I thought I was being thorough.
