Very effective cleaning & stain removal
I used the Hoover PowerDash on multiple light-colored 8X10 area rugs around my home and was really impressed with how much deep-set dirt & soil this compact cleaner pulled up. We have cats, and we also have the area rugs in high foot traffic areas of our home. After about 2 1/2 years of just using a regular vacuum on our rugs, I noticed the gray & cream colors were looking dingy. There were also a few faint stains on our family room rug from normal living wear & tear.I ordered this PowerDash based on positive reviews, and I am really glad I did. For the liquid formula I poured into the cleaner, I used the Bissel Pro Max Clean & Protect liquid formula for Upright Carpet Cleaners, and poured it in this Hoover Power Dash Upright Pet Carpet Cleaner with warm water, following the instructions that come with the Hoover Power Dash Cleaner. After one cleaning, my rugs look completely revived. My husband and I were shocked at how much dirt was in the rugs that we did not even realize. The Cleaner also lifted the faded stains, some that had been set for a good 2 years. I forgot how bright my rugs originally were! The PowerDash cleaner is lightweight and easy to assemble & to use. I also found it relatively easy to clean out the dirty water container. It just requires you to dump the dirty water and then you may have to pull out a few clumps of carpet fiber that the cleaner lifts because of the strong suction.A few tips: definitely use warm water, and go slowly when pushing & pulling the Cleaner during use. The clean water/formula tank is small, so I had to fill it twice to clean the full surface of one 8X10 area rug. The process of filling the water/formula tank is really easy so it is not a big deal, but I would recommend buying an extra bottle of the liquid cleaner to have on hand for cleaning if you plan to clean larger surface areas. All but one of our rugs were brand new 2 1/2 years ago when we moved into our home. The new thicker rugs all washed up really well and felt soft & fresh after the cleaning. The only advice I would give is to be careful with older or more delicate rugs. The suction of the carpet cleaner is strong, so it does suck up carpet fibers. We have one hall rug that is a little older/thinner, and the carpet fibers on that rug were a little delicate/brittle for the suction of the PowerDash. The rug is clean after use, but you can almost see where some of the fibers on this older rug were thinned out from the cleaning. But on all of our newer, thicker rugs, the cleaner sucked up the dirt & soil beautifully and left the rugs feeling really soft and clean.Overall, super pleased with this purchase. I am impressed with how powerful this cleaner is for something so lightweight and relatively inexpensive compared with other cleaners.

Good Compact Machine, but Understand the Tradeoffs with a Small Machine
I bought this thing on the basis of all the good reviews it got. I had a larger Bissell machine for many years and I was largely satisfied with it. But I wanted something a little more compact and lighter.Pros: This thing really is more like a slightly heavier, regular vacuum cleaner in use, which means it is an awful lot easier to push around. It seems to clean about as well as my big beast of a Bissell did, maybe even a bit better, judging by how much filthy water it ultimately pulled up from my carpet. The routine cleaning of the machine, rinsing out the parts etc. after you are done using it seems fairly easy, a bit easier than my old Bissell because you can take the suction head off easily and run it under the sink and it was reasonably easy to pull the inevitable bits of dog hair and carpet fuzz off the rollers. It was noisy, but not much noisier than my old machine.Cons: Water is heavy, and a big reason why this thing is lighter and easier to use is that the water tanks are much smaller. The water dispenser bottle is like two Nalgene bottles put together, which means you get less than 10 minutes of run time with the water spraying. So you have to stop, refill the clean water and empty the dirty water tank much more frequently than you will with a larger machine. If you are cleaning a very big room nowhere near a sink or tub, that will get old soon. The brush head is narrower as well, meaning more passes are required to clean the same area. So buying something like for most people is going to be a kind of a pick-your-poison thing. Either you can get a big heavy machine that is more work to push around or something lighter that requires more trips to the sink and so will take you a fair bit more time to handle a large area.If you have a huge house full of wall-to-wall carpet with kids and dogs etc. this is probably not the machine for you. If you have a few area rugs that you want to give a deep clean once or twice a year, this will be ideal. If you are somewhere between these two extremes, you just need to decide what is more important to you.It seems fairly well built for the price, which is not the same thing as actually heavy-duty. It strikes me as something that should last a while if it gets only occasional use and you are reasonably gentle with it. But if you are pulling this out every week, that may be asking a lot of something this inexpensive. So far, I have only discovered two obvious design flaws: (1) There is actually a small lip around the drain plug you use to drain the water from the dirty water tank, which makes it needlessly difficult to get the very last fraction of an ounce of water out of the dirty water tank. This is really only annoying when you clean the machine to put it away, it means that part will take forever to dry. (2) The power cord is attached to the bottom of the machine, not up by the handle. It should have some kind of clip to keep it up out of the way, and I found that if I wasn’t careful I’d keep running over the cord. It would cost literally no money to put a clip for the cord up by the handle, but I guess I will be putting a zip tie on it instead.BTW, having had one of these home carpet cleaning machines for years, the most important tip I can give anybody just starting with one of these things is this: NEVER just run the soap/water solution through the machine and stop. Not only is the job only half done, but worse, the soap residue will dry inside the hoses and mechanism and eventually clog everything up and ruin the machine.Instead, you want to rinse out the clean/water soap mix thing and then run plain water through the machine at least 2x as much as the soap loads. So if you put down 3 loads of soap, plan on running 6 loads of clear water minimum through the machine to get all of that soap you laid down back out of the carpet. As you will soon see, the plain hot water will continue to pull out tons of additional dirt from the carpet along with the soap, and you want the carpet soap out of the carpet before you stop anyway. How do you know when you are done? You should keep going, using just plain water at least until you aren’t seeing lots of soaping foam coming back out of the carpet, and ideally until the water you are pulling from the carpet is no longer utterly filthy. If the dirty water still has some dirt in it, but it is no longer black as coal and you can start to see through it, that is when you should be about done. And then run the machine over the whole carpet again without any clear water in it to suck up any residual water in the carpet. That will help the carpet dry more quickly. Here was my experience in cleaning an admittedly filthy 8×10 foot rug. First I needed just under two full loads of the soap/water mix to cover the entire carpet. Then I needed to run another 4 loads of plain water to largely remove the soap from the carpet. Then I ran the machine empty over the entire rug several times to get the residual water out of the carpet. All in, it took quite a while and was a fair bit of work, but the end result was excellent, the carpet looks a whole lot better than it did.Overall, I recommend this thing, it is not for everybody, but it should fit the bill for a lot of people.

We live in rental with builders beige 12 year old carpet. We have one grey cat and a few coffee stains so we didnât need a super powerful cleaner. I bought the cheapest one and it worked great!! I thought that our carpet was clean but it took up cat hair that was left by our super expensive and not as good as I thought vacuum. The cat hair did not clog anything. All the connections were large and bigger clumps were expelled by the brush mostly when moving the machine back over the wet area. I also purchased the pet cleaner because even though our stains were coffee and tea and mostly from people, the pet cleaner would be safe for the cat.It was lightweight and super easy to assemble and use. Everything clicked in and took a total of two minutes to put together. No tools necessary.I read the reviews before and agree it a little loud but no louder than the vacuum. It will take a couple days to fully dry and because itâs lightweight and small the tanks are small. I had to refill and empty quite a bit. It comes with a small bottle of cleaner but buy the jug. Youâll need more. Also, pay close attention to the markings on the tank. You will be tempted to add more soap, resist the temptation. The suds will hard to manage and when you refill it will foam up.I would buy it again in a heartbeat. I would recommend it to anyone. Great buy. Great product. My only beef was that it didnât get into the corners but would still buy it again.

It was easy to put together, though I have no idea where the ‘strap’ goes and cannot see in the instructions what I am supposed to do with it (haven’t called Hoover’s customer service to ask – yet). It came with 6 oz of liquid cleaner which enough for 2 full tanks and I was able to do one carpet (albeit its not a huge one) and part of a second carpet (a bit bigger than the first) with only one tank of water, so lots left to finish the second carpet and give another cleaning to the first carpet mentioned above. I have left over Bisell carpet cleaner solution and I am hoping to be able to use that up in the Hoover. I also have not emptied the dirty water tank but I do like the idea I can use the spout to empty it, though I will have to lift the machine – tilt it- and aim for the toilet to use the spout. I will update this review IF there is a problem, but I anticipate no problem. I highly recommend this machine. I also bought the 3 extra year warranty which I should have done with my Bisell machine and didn’t. Update: I used the spout to drain the dirty water tank and its very cool and easy, didn’t have to remove the tank at all. So far, so good. The cleaning solution it came with (6 oz) was enough to do my 2 area carpets twice and one half. Wow. Talk about savings and the carpets now look fantastic.

Me encanta! a mi no me sirve mucho que el recipiente del agua sucia sea pequeño. Pero es muy facil de usar!

This little machine is good because it’s small and light but not meant for large areas. It’s easier to handle than the bigger machines. It does a decent job but capacity is small for liquid.
