    So far so good
This is my first Vitamix purchase. I bought this mainly for smoothies for myself. My old blender left me picking berry seeds out of my teeth after each smoothie. Hummus and cauliflower mash came out grainy in the food processor and would jam up my old blender unless you added more liquid, making the final product too runny. I watched many videos reviewing different Vitamix models. Most of the “influencers” recommended the fancier models with all the bells and whistles such as the Ascent 3500. I personally thought it was overkill for me and didn’t think I’d ever use the timer, all the preset options, and different containers. I mean, it’s a blender right? You put stuff in, turn it on for a minute and then turn it off. I’m not baking cookies or roasting a turkey in there. The first thing I decided to make was strawberry ice cream using heavy whipping cream and frozen strawberries. I used the preset option for frozen desserts and tamper stick. The preset options have automated times and speeds and stop automatically after the preset cycle is finished. After the cycle was done it wasn’t smooth enough for me so I used the variable speed dial on high for another 15 seconds and it was smooth, creamy, and delicious. After that experience, I don’t think I’ll be using the preset options much because depending on the type and quantity of ingredients, you will need to blend for different times to get just the right final consistency based on your individual preference. The presets don’t account for all that.To address some of the negative reviews:Pitcher shifting: yes, the pitcher shifts a tad when the blender kicks on. That is normal. The motor is very powerful and the pitcher needs to have some give to it.Lid: The lid does form a complete seal you just have to make sure you put some weight on it when you press it down into place.Container size: This pitcher works just fine for my use but I usually only make two-serving smoothies using low volume items (no large fruits or greens). If you plan to blend a lot of large items and/or making additional servings at once, I would probably suggest buying a blender that comes with a larger pitcher or buying the 64 oz. tall Vitamix pitcher, which is compatible with this base. The 64 oz. wide pitcher is NOT compatible.Sound: yes, it’s loud. It’s also very powerful. Those two things usually go hand in hand. The highest power setting is almost intimidating to use for the first time. Don’t be scared to let it do it’s thing. Keep the tamper handy.Recipe book: The recipe book does not give conflicting instructions. I can’t believe I have to explain this, but people read from top to bottom so the water or liquid is listed first in the recipes because it’s the first ingredient to add to the bottom of the pitcher.Overall, I really like this blender so far. The only thing I am wondering is if the 64 oz tall pitcher would help pull the ingredients down to the blade a little better because I almost always have to use the tamper for thicker blends. The reason I didn’t get the 5200 with tall pitcher was because it was over $100 more than I paid for this one and didn’t have a pulse button. I also didn’t like that you have to turn the dial to 10 and also flip on the “high” switch to blend on high. Lastly, I thought I’d like having the preset options, which the 5200 didn’t have, but have since found them unnecessary.UPDATE: After using this blender for about a month, I have learned the proper ratio of frozen fruit and liquid to get my smoothies perfectly smooth and creamy using the smoothie preset option. I use the blender to make smoothies 99% of the time so I don’t really use the other preset options. As I continue to use it, my ability to identify the proper ratio of ingredients to get the desired final consistency is improving. Overall, I’m loving this blender!

Thrilled With This Power House Blender!
This blender belongs on your “bucket list” and the day you get it you’ll see why!Incredibly smooth blended ice for any drink and smoothie I can imagine. From mushroom coffee Frappes to kale-protein-fruit smoothies it has increased my health greatly. My Son and I use it twice daily.I plan to replace all the sugary fake foods I crave with fruity cream drinks and natural sweetners next. If your on a health voyage…this is a worthy investment!~GOD Bless💖

Finally got a Vitamix, love the 510
Not much to say, it’s Vitamix, they’re the best. Choosing the model was the hardest part: I went with the 510 because it is small enough to fit under the cabinet and a 48 ounce jar is plenty big enough for my use (my old blender actually had 48 ounce jar, it’s not small!). I had also read that this one seemed to do as well as taller models with keeping nut butter moving near the blades (using the pusher of course). There are a couple presets, and they are the ones that I want – I didn’t feel the need to spring for anything more complicated than that and I’m glad I didn’t.Basically, I think the 510 strikes the right balance for me – lots of power, big but not huge, easy to use interface with useful options.Already enjoying my new Vitamix every day and looking forward to learning new recipes.

    Just get it!!!
I was terrified to buy this at first, there are so many models and mixed reviews. It’s a game changer in my kitchen. I’m vegan so the first thing I made was cashew milk then almond milk. Both came out smooth and creamy and no need to strain. I then cleaned it by adding one drop of dishsoap with 3/4 of the container filled with water and turned the vitamix on, cleaned effortlessly. Someone made a video about the base moving and this to me was super scary, please know that it will not “go flying off” or anything like that it is secure by rubber things that hold it. I think this may possibly be one of the things that make it less expensive but for an extra hundred(s) of dollars this is absolutely fine. Also the top is a little cheap but it does the job just not aesthetically pleasing again I imagine the more expensive models have prettier better made tops. It does come with the thing to scrape down the sides so no need to purchase one. If you want a vitamix but are afraid to commit, just go for it. This model is great and I hope this helps someone figure out which model is best for them.

All blenders are not created equal!
I used to have the mindset of “as long as it blended my stuff up, It was a good enough blender for me.” I didn’t realize I was missing out on the luxury experience of a Vitamix! I’m here to tell you that it does make a difference. Creamier smoothies, No chunks left After blending. Versatile and can be used for Handful of other things such As making hot soups ! I’m the girl that never thought she would own a Vitamix, but man it’s worth the cost.

    Not working as expected
After the drive socket on my ninja blender stripped out, I decided to try the vitamix since it was so highly recommended. I was a bit skeptical since I felt the multiple blades mixed everything from top to bottom very well compared to mixers with the blades only in the bottom. Videos showed Vitamix doing an amazing job blending smoothies so I got it. This one that I got can’t even blend spinach. It does not pull the leaves down to the blades like I expected it. Adding water helped some but it starts out at what seems like a normal speed then suddenly speeds up to the point where it seems like it will blow up and the motor smells like it’s burning. After finally getting the spinach to blend I tried adding frozen pineapple chunks to see how that would do. That would blend for a second, then seem to jam. I had to keep stirring it, then blending, then it would jam then I’d stir again until once again it would speed up super fast and sound like it was going to explode. I will return this and try the more expensive model and see how that does but for now, I feel like my old ninja did a way better job with the multiple blades than this piece of junk.

My wife makes pretty formidable smoothies about every other day. Our Ninja gave up the ghost after about 5 years so we wanted to go a bit more upscale this time. Frankly the cost seemed insane to me, especially for something that doesn’t appear to have a ton of features or gimmicks, but once you turn it on you can tell why it’s expensive.Instead of bells and whistles it focuses on being a good blender. It’s heavy and solid and I’m pretty sure it would blend a car if you could fit it in the jug. I’m certain this thing will outlast me. Worth the price.
