Cheap, small and simple
I have a small bedroom that I use as a workshop, with various tools that generate heat. (For example, a 3D printer.) While the extra heat is handy in the winter, it’s brutal in the summer. I felt it was high time I worked in comfort, and so I looked for the lowest priced air conditioner I could find on Amazon, which turned out to be this unit. There is no remote with the model I ordered, and instead has only two manual controls: one dial for the temperature, and another dial that chooses between 5 modes. The 5 modes are: fan only low, fan only high, A/C & fan low, A/C & fan high, and OFF. These settings are fine, as I only will ever have it near max cooling with high fan speed when the room gets too hot. I had no need of a remote. The blower vent can be directed left or right, but not up and down. The adjustable skirt fits in place nicely and slides easily to adjust. Although it comes with screws and bracket, I didn’t need to secure them, they stayed in place well enough. Though I did need to close up gaps where bugs might manage to get in. For this, I used some thin slivers of scrap foam I had laying around.Mounting was very easy – it sits perfectly on my sill and the window sash holds it in place. Basically, I attached the top rail and skirts, opened my window just high enough for the back of the A/C to pass through the opening, and then slid it into place until the top rail butted up against the sash. I then closed the sash as far as it could go and checked to make sure it was sloping backwards about 4 degrees for condensation to run out. They included some sealing foam for the gap in the window sash, but I used my own foam for both the sash and around the skirting to seal up all crevices.Overall, I’m quite pleased with the unit so far. The room is about 150 sq ft and it cools the room nicely even on a 90-degree day. It actually cools out into the hallway and stairwell, probably another 75 sq ft. It rarely gets hotter than 90 where I live, or I may have ordered something a little more powerful – I think it may struggle if it were much hotter than that. It’s not whisper quiet, but its not noisy either. It’s about the volume I expect from an air-conditioner this size. I actually have window fans that run louder. The 3-year warranty was only an extra $20, so I added that to my purchase. If you need cheap, small and simple, I would absolutely recommend this unit.

No digital temperature setting
I live in central TX, my wife and I like to sleep cold so instead of turning the whole house down we got this for our bedroom. We turn it on in the evening and by morning our bedroom is freezing. It’s fantastic!! There is a temperature dial but it would be nice to have a digital temp set.

Basic. Cheap. Lightweight. Works.
Pros:- Basic- Cheap- Lightweight- Works – makes more cold air than my old 5000 BU unit.Cons:- occasionally makes disconcerting noises, but is slightly quieter than my 10-year old unit- no-text (international) labels are a bit weird: the snowflake and the fan symbol look very similar. But once you’ve figured it out, it’s not hard.- pretty energy inefficient – not a problem if like me, you plan to only run it on the 10-20 days over 95F- fan runs at same speed after temp is reached – not sure if that’s a pro or a con really because that allows me to let the temp be higher as the breeze cools me- small – don’t try to cool a space too large with one of these – it just won’t work. 500 BTU, but that’s as expected. Btw, two of these work like a charm in a larger space if you have plenty of windows to put them into.Note: like all cheap 5000 BTU units, this has an accordion-style cover for the rest of the window opening left and right. There’s a very noticeable gap there to let hot air in. Find two cardboard pieces (like the box it came in) and cut it to shape to go in front of these and tape them down. That insulates better and closes off the air gaps. Your electric bill will thank you.

Great basic window AC unit
This is my second year using this AC unit. It is pretty basic, but does a good job.It is a bit noisy. I don’t mind it for the white noise, but it could bother some people if they want something that is silent. It doesn’t have any timers, target temperature, or remote. You have to adjust the settings yourself. If you don’t mind the basic feature set it’s a good AC for a budget. It worked better than a more expensive portable AC unit.

Very bad quality Amazon basic product!
This is a very bad quality product. The fan runs like it should, but the compressor only runs for 5 or 10 minutes and then as I leave it on longer and longer the compressor runs less and less. I think this thing keeps overheating. I have it inside my pop-up camper with a vent to the outside that does not work. This AC is not good for this application. Maybe it would work in a real window but this AC sucks. Do not buy it in my opinion. Not trying to cool down a very big area or temperatures Over 100 temps are usually in the ’80s or ’90s where I live.

not bad!
got this cause it was the cheapest one with the best reviews. no regrets so far. installation was easy, just need a drill. came in the mail fast. i have no AC, just heat, so this was much needed! i have it in the living room but it makes the whole house cooler (i live in an extra small home).

Damaged AF
Came damaged AND two damn days late, very disappointed. Furious almost. Not quite, but certainly annoyed. Also I cut myself on the little radiator metal things and it hurt like hell but thatâs on me. Anyway, it made a screeching noise for the first 10 minutes of running, but now itâs fine and obviously makes some noise. Noise is bearable, but why the hell was it damaged like that. Damaged AND late as hell. I was hoping theyâd like give it to me for free or something but they didnât, which just reminded me that the world is cruel. I almost cried after this realization. Anyway, maybe if they gave the delivery drivers water, theyâd be nicer with my package. Thatâs all. Works great. Very cold. Still annoyed.

I’m cooling an entire apartment (maybe 800 sq ft) from the living room. I think if you read between the lines on the 3-star to 4-star reviews (even some of the 2-stars) you’ll understand what you are buying. For the price point this is a 5-star unit. My only real mistake is that you have to be delicate with the outside heat sink. They will cut your fingers and bend over easily. Wear gloves and don’t touch the soft parts. Still 5-star. My unit is all analogue controls and they work just fine. The first 24-hours was at full blast and the past 2 days it’s been 30°C+ outdoors and 20-24°C indoors. Can’t complain at all – noise levels are exactly what you’d expect for the price point.

Really great, does it’s job decently well, not hard to install. It took me a couple hours the first time though, as the fan didn’t spin when I turned it on. I fiddled with it and poked the fan a few times, and after a while the fan spun and it has worked since. These units may need more testing before, though I’m not sure the cause.
