Sometimes, even good companies make lemons — This is NOT one.
I am on a liquid diet. I have been for the better part of the last year and that may never change. Most of what is easily available for such a diet is sweet — ice cream, pudding, juice, jello, etc. One thing that has become a staple for me is Pacific Organic Tomato Soup. I love it. But the same thing could get tiresome after a while, and to prevent that from happening, I needed some good alternatives.Soup is a logical place to begin, but I can’t eat any soup with lumps, chunks, or solids in it. I’ve tried other soups by Pacific and I don’t much like them. Typical canned soups are out of the question, and while one local supermarket offers a couple of delicious soups in their deli section — a Thai coconut soup and an Indian curry — they are very expensive and not edible in their for-sale form. (But they’re great when this blender finishes with them.)That is where the Breville hand blender comes in. After getting out of the hospital in December 2023, I did some research and narrowed the choice down to two hand blenders. One is made by Ninja and the other is this Breville model. I chose the Breville and although I have no idea how good the Ninja is, I am 100% happy about my choice. Among other things, the mixing container of the Breville appears to be a much better design than the Ninja’s bowl. The handle and the no-skid lid that fits under the bowl for blending is very nice. Since that is what I do with my blender, I don’t care about any other features of the Ninja, which is Amazon’s “Choice.” I have had mixed results with “Amazon’s Choice” products. I don’t find that “label” entirely reliable.I can take a canned soup or one from the deli and very quickly puree it to the point where it is safe for me to consume. I usually add a little hot water to the mix before I finish blending to make it a bit thinner for easier passage through my intestines. I have been impressed with how quickly and effectively the Breville blender reduces the lumps, chunks, and solids to a uniform liquid that is as thin or thick as I desire. This hand blender is easy to assemble after cleaning, comfortable to hold, and feels solid in every way. I have found cleaning it is simple and offers no problems. The original package included not just the blender but a mixing container with a well-thought out lid that the container can slip into and create a no slip base. The container is high quality, very useful, and, again, easy to clean. There is also a 3-Cup Chopper Bowl with stainless steel chopping blades and a whisking attachment. So far, I haven’t used either one, but I might try the chopping bowl in the future if I come up with larger items that need to be chopped before they are blended. Given the quality and how well the blender works, I’m going to assume the other two accessories will also work well, but, not having used them yet, I can’t rate them in this review. As I wrote above, I am completely happy with this purchase. I don’t write many reviews. The majority of products today are nothing special and hardly worth commenting on. I did write an unfavorable review for a Denon CD player that is as overpriced as it is mediocre. Because I didn’t begin to use it immediately after its purchase, by the time I was in a position to rate it, it was already too late to return it. However, I waited four months to write this review after starting to use the blender immediately and I feel comfortable giving this five stars across the board. At $129.00 it isn’t inexpensive, but if someone needs a powerful, efficient, hand blender, I can’t see them going wrong with this one.

  2. How products work

I am LIBERATED, should have done this YEARS ago..
June 2nd the motor died on the blender now. So disappointedCouldn’t wait to get this, got it a day earlier then it said, altho I bought it from amazon warehouse at reduced price because of cosmetic flaws, a scratch on the big pitcher,it didn’t have the original box, but came with all parts, wrapped in clear plastic bags, and tags, as well as operation manual. I was using two food processors to grind up my husband’s food and constantly having to wash them, etc, got to be so much extra work, and I dreaded it. Immersion blenders are easy to clean and then quickly move to the next thing for the menu, also you have more control with these as to what you want to mash, puree or just chop by hand with a stick blender vs. food processor.I feel liberated from the washing and cleaning of my big processors. This BrevilleThe speed variation is very nice to have, also noticed it is quiet, surprised me how quiet it seems, the grip is so comfortablethis Breville is very pretty as well, the color is a dark grey and black. The containers are nice quality and stack which I love that feature, I tested each piece for function, the wisk turned, and on high is really amazing, same with the small processor.I made ice cream with the stick tonight using frozen bananas, milk, honey, no ice, was out of heavy cream or I would have used some, compared to making this in my stand processor, this was a breeze, so easy I will be making more desserts like this now.I had recently bought a used 5.00 Braun at thrift store to see if the immersion blender would work to puree his food, the suction on the Braun MQ caused me to crack my ceramic cooktop because it stuck to the bottom of pot and lifted it and when released came down hard and cracked the cooktop, so now my 5.00 Goodwill blender, is costing me a lot because I have to buy a new cooktop,Had no idea when I first used one this could happen.I did not have a problem with suction, or splatter with the Breville, very happy with that,I made a loaded tater soup tonight that was sooo good, also had no problem with removing the shaft from the blender head.I will take some photos of all of it, and show some food as well soon, haven’t actually used the processor or wisk, but they both function, will update this review to include my experience with the food processor part, and wisk.I already like that the top of processor doesn’t lock on, will make it so much easier to just dump things out and add more, far quicker ..will also be so much easier to wash then my old processor.also like the smaller size so I can blend smaller amounts.I will be testing this everyday, as I use daily to prepare food for someone who has difficulty chewing, so foods must be chopped, ground, etc.I didn’t use the jug to mix the ice cream, as I haven’t washed it yet, but used a wide mouth empty protein shake container so I could then store the rest of ice cream in it.the reasons I bought this blender over the others*shaft length longer so won’t feel the heat from soup etc.*the protection for non stick cookware on bottom+largest mixing container with lid and handle+food processor larger then most but perfect size to mix small amts as well+stackable design is awesome+variable speed+comfort grip and design+long cord, with hole for unplugging+non suction bottom, (as I mentioned, the old Braun broke my ceramic cooktop from this) so be careful.+more noticeable power with the 280 wattI can’t wait to use this blender with all it’s functions, for all my cooking, I love to make no bake cheesecakes using gelatin and whipped creams, meringues, etc, this is perfect for that with the mixing jug as well. Also make a lot of soups in my crockpot, as well as bone broths, chicken stocks, chili, spaghetti sauce, I have noticed with immersion blenders everything is better, sauces, dressings, can’t believe that all this time I have been killing myself with the big processors..can’t wait to make mayo, guacamole, all kinds of butters, whipped cream butter.. etc etc etc.I hope this one will last me many years and hours, recommended by America’s test kitchen, and many other websites, glad I got this one.I did a very in depth search for the right system, this one stood out because of all the features listed above, and poor reviews of other makes and models always led me back to this unit.Needed the lower suction and wanted protection for non stick pans, long shaft, comfort, long cord, power, larger mixing jug, lid, handle, larger processor. Takes up no space on my counter, I keep it plugged in and separated from the bottom, on a cutting board in the corner, with the bowls stacked.Love it.Already removed my two big food processors, and my stand mixer off of the counter.Yeah..liberated.note: on e replacement parts for this blender,if you look at the replacement parts list, their is a diagram # 23 of the blender shaft how it’s put together, behind the blade are several washers, screws etc if they stay tight would keep food from getting into the hollow part of the shaft. Also if you want to buy just the 42oz mixing jug it’s 7.95 and the lid is 3.95 so 11.00parts to replace the whip attachment are all very cheap, it’s 37.99 to replace the entire stainless hollow blending shaft blade etc.also I think if you want to fill up the hollow shaft with water and just let it keep flowing and running out this would clean it, as well as running it while holding in soapy warm water.updatehave had this for a couple weeks or so and love it still, I use the whisk and processor attachments alot, whipped cream is quick and easy, the processor is so simple to use and clean and does a really great job, the immersion blender has been so perfect for what I needed, it will chop meat etc with no problem, is not heavy, very comfortable to use. loving it still very happy with this product.Update : 11/20/2018 still loving this I use it several times a day, the whisk to make quick whipped cream, the blender I use multiple times a day for my husband who needs ground food, it works very well, is so much easier than my big cuisinart to use and clean, and I use the immersion blender every single day for smashing sweet potatoes, or other crockpot foods into soup so he can eat it, I make sure I rinse the parts right after use, I love this thing, so functional, easy to use, easy to store, love the pitcher and lid usually I keep full of whipped cream right now, but also is great for anything else.

  3. Amazon Customer

I have only used it a few times but it works very well. The long shaft is great for blending soups and makes a quick job of it with no splatter. The variable speed is also a great option. The tool comes with attachments which I have not yet used but I think they will be useful. While the blender is more expensive than some it works much better than the less costly models I have used. All in all, I think this is an excellent product and worth the cost.

I had a Braun immersion blender for the past 4 years and it had the little 1 cup chopping bowl as well as two 2cup jars. It did the job fine except the chopping bowl’s blade had a crevice that accumulated dirt and for doing baby food i thought this was disgusting and needed a new one. anyway, this arrived today, I tested the blending shaft and the chopping bowl. Made some baby food with it (about 1 c of carrot puree) and I am so far satisfied. The jar is 1250ml and the chopping bowl is 750 so I take this as my mini food processor. The different speeds count for the type of chop you want. For chopping an onion i.e., low speed would have relatively good chunks and for baby food or smoothies, go to the max! Very excited to continue using it regularly. All the materials are very good quality. Hard plastic, no crevice in the chopping blade and very comfortable handle. My braun was just a straight shaft and was still easy to use, but this ergonomic design DOES make a difference. The noise is quite high when using at max speed, but not as noisy as a regular food processor or regular blender. And for storing, you just put the chopping bowl in the jar, put the lid underneath and there you go. It’s stored away! (but the motor and whisk need to go separate ways)I had read the reviews and some people mentionned the machine smoked and made some weird noise, but reading the owner’s manual it says when blending thick foods, only do 15 seconds at a time. And for everything else, 1 min max, let rest for 1 min and blend again for 1 min because yes the motor will overheat and burn. I find this is still reasonable and would respect that to keep my breville going for years (like what i expect of that brand)And yes when using the wisk attachment, the whisk is not straight so it does wobble. But it’s not a deal breaker since i rarely use electric whisks anyways. If i need to beat sh*t up (egg whites or cream) i use my kitchen aid mixer with whisk attachement. I would use this little whisk here if I needed to beat some scrambled eggs or for example the liquid part of brownie or muffin mix (eggs, butter or oil, sugar and vanilla), but not for anything bigger.Update after 2 months: I’ve been using this daily now. To chop mushrooms, onions, peppers, etc. I blend baby food daily (boil the carrots, blend the carrottes, add brown rice, blend the rice) and this machines makes it super easy. I even use the whisk attachement for box cakes or muffins! I love it so much. Even when I don’t use the blender machine, I use the measuring cup! Buy this now, you need it.

I have been using this immersion blender for 4 or 5 years now, using it once per week, never had any issues, so stupid-me shouldn’t have bought the extra insurance ;)It blends soups, creates mayonnaise, shredders nuts. I never used the whisk though, better invest in a two-whisk electric stirrer if you need whisk and knead functionality. This is a good immersion blender, not more, not less. Would buy it again. It has only one button, so If you need a safer (maybe for cooking with your kids) device that requires both hands, then don’t get this.
