Great Coffee Maker
This coffee maker was purchased to replace a similar but less expensive one that did not last very long. I like strong coffee so I have only used the brew basket which has a much larger capacity than the machine it replaced. Other reviewers have mentioned how hard the brew basket is to open but another shared information for a YouTube video that was very helpful. Just put your thumb at the top of the vertical spine on the outside of the basket that is directly under the tab that opens it and your index finger at the top of the opposite one and squeeze the basket. Use your other hand to pull up the tab and it opens right up. Kind of a pain but the upside is the basket isn’t going to pop open when you lift it from the tab. My travel mug, and I expect a lot of others, is for 16 ounces. This coffee maker doesn’t have a button for that size brew. Other users advised that I brew 10 ounces and then 6. A little inconvenient but it works just fine. The footprint of this machine takes up very little counter space. It’s super easy to keep clean. The only negative, and I don’t recall seeing this from other reviewers, is that it makes a high pitch noise at the end of the brew cycle. It’s brief and not real loud, just a little annoying. But it makes up for that minor issue by brewing great tasting coffee while not taking up a huge amount of space on the kitchen counter. I have used it about three weeks now and definitely think it’s a great value for the price.

Impressive Machine & Challenging At First Basket
Was looking for an inexpensive but flexible k-cup machine.I did find I had to remove the drip tray completely to fit my mom’s travel mug into the footprint. (Use a small bit of paper towel for drips.) If the front of the bottom had an opening for travel mug bases, the potential for spilling would be reduced while having to tip the now full mug towards you during removal.Elephant in the room – brew basket. 2 issues:The larger-than-most brew basket caught my attention. While unpacking the unit, the k-cup insert was in the pulpboard packaging, while the basket was AWOL (should be in the machine). I e-mailed Famiworth directly instead of going through the whole brouhaha of returns & exchanges, with a prompt reply & received the basket a few days later.Hurray, now I can try it out! BUT, I am deducting one star, as there’s nowhere in the really detailed instructions, recipe book, nor with the replacement basket on HOW to open it up. I came across a review & informative video on YouTube by Mike’s Deal Finderwith the chap showing at about 1:27 how to push the body in a smidge & lever up the lid/flap. Yes, how it looks it should open (put that butter knife away!😆) & how it really opens are opposite. Try not to twist the flap once opened, as the plastic connecting bit is very thin & has snapping off potential.Wish the water tank lid was hinged, as I’ve managed to dunk it twice now in the tank. I just fill it from a jug & made a Sharpie mark on the backside so I don’t have to look on the side.Appreciate the strong brew option, as at long last that little bit extra is extracted properly.The temperature is piping hot.Nice feature with last size brewed is what is saved.Enjoy!!😎☕️☕️☕️
