It actually works !
Ordered the 10k BTU A/C on Sunday and it was delivered on Monday afternoon . Pulled out an 18 yr. old 12k LG unit from a through the wall sleeve and put this unit in the old sleeve . This GE unit was smaller so it was easy to cut solid Styrofoam blocks to seal around the open space … New GE unit is working fine and a lot quieter than the old LG it replaced . It comes with a remote control which is nice … I did download the app but after seeing the permissions this thing wants , I deleted it … sure it is nice and entertaining for a minute or two … but I really don’t think I need to send the indoor temperature of my house to china along with the ability to monitor my carbon foot print and sell the info to the U.S. government .I am glad people write reviews so other people can get an idea of what to expect but when I read a few reviews about bright light inside the unit , I thought they were kinda crazy … My apology … the reviews were not crazy vampire people that were sensitive to a little light … its really a thing with these new a/c units … its really bright after install … on or off it does not make a difference if the sun is out it will be about equal to turning on a 40 watt light bulb … the cause of this thing lighting up is because they are using cheap open cell white Styrofoam which is nearly transparent as an inside/outside air separator …. like everything else , its likely much cheaper than black plastic …. the fix for this is a lot of work … remove the case from the unit and paint the white Styrofoam with black latex paint or any dark water based paint … or maybe spray it with glue and use aluminum foil … just remember .. solvent based paint with actually eat the Styrofoam and likely void any warranty

Great AC. Poor WiFi set up.
I got the 12,000 BTU one for my apt and it cools the whole apt perfectly. The eco mode is great and the app shows you how much energy you use per day. You have to turn the unit off to get that usage amount but itâs great. Setting up with WiFi is VERY SLOW. Like you think itâs not working but no if you just let it do itâs thing itâll work. But, the app isnât the best.

My Review of GE WiFi 8000 BTU A.C.
Great Cooling Even At Preset Out Of The Box Settings. So Far No Problems. Very Happy ð

Nice conditioner but dented when we got it.
This came with a small dent in one of the outer corners. Rather than go through the hassle of returning it we put it in and tried it. This is a very nice conditioner and it does work well so weâll keep it. Just beware of the handling, if it comes with any damage to the box return it before opening it.

It has no warranty, and you’ll sadly need one if you purchase
The frustration of this purchase cannot be exaggerated. I wish I had read more of the reviews prior to purchaseâ¦specifically the comments about the âwarranty.â Please heed what I am saying here, it may save you great frustration.Note that there is truly no warranty on this item. I am not misstating or exaggerating, there is no true warranty. The unit IS NOT REPAIRABLE, it is considered a return to point of sale. If something goes wrong, and it is HIGHLY likely the electronics will (check the number of â88â errors on these units thru a search), it will not be repaired. I waited two weeks for a service call for repair that consisted of a call from the technician (not a visit) and a simple and quick âsorry I canât fix itâ over the phone. The unit is 3 months old and will not operate. It will beep insistently when plugged in, but will not work. There are no repair parts available. Iâve already waited several hours on hold to talk to âcustomer care,â and what I got for the time was request upon request for Amazon purchase receipts. The recited policy but provided no solutions or assistance They have offered a âgood willâ certificate for 60% of what I have to pay to replace the unit. There is no other solution and this was only offered after repeated calls and hold times.Purchasing from Amazon complicates the warranty issue because they want it returned to the location of purchase?! Amazon was actually as accommodating as they could be, be GE was really unhelpful. If the AC worked, and it did for 3 months, I wouldnât be as critical. It didnât and doesnât, so it was a complete waste of time. The good will certificate has a very complicated set of guidelines and timetables. If not followed exactly, you get nothing. If followed to the letter, the service folks warned me it would take 2 to 3 months to receive the reimbursement. Add to this the month weâve been without AC and you get the idea what a disappointment GE has been.I had no idea when I bought this just how bad GE has become. I should have done the research, I know. Hopefully you have, by reading this, donât make a mistake with this AC, or really with most anything GE.

Lots of Bang for the Buck
This is the third GE AC i have bought. It did not dissapoint. I have a lot of confidence in GE Air. I paid $349. For it which was about 25% less than other comparable models. I wanted cold and reliable and that is what i got. I will say this. Its a NICE looking unit. All the pictures on amazon werent the best and i was ok with that but it looks very nice. The Wifi hookup was a bonus at this price. The mounting kit was also fine. It is quiet enough for my expectations. I am sure there are quieter ones but i wasnt willing to pay another hundred bucks for ultra quiet. If you are looking for a lot of reliable BTUs for the money. Get it.This is a quality Item for a budget price.Update: I hooked up the smart app. It took 10 minutes super easy and works great first time. The App operates all functions but my favorite thing about it is that it shows me both he temperature that the unit is set on but also the actual temperature in the house so i can decide whether to turn it on when i am away from the house.

Before purchasing it, the description stated it was natively compatible with Homekit. It is not. The only control available out of the box is the SmartHQ app, which is extremely limiting as far or options. No public API available to control the AC remotely. It’s possible to use IFTTT with webhooks, but as of today, a free IFTTT account allows only two requests, which only allows you to turn the AC on and off. After every restart, the AC goes back to eco mode, so to switch it to cool mode, no choice but to use the SmartHQ app. I added a switch using HomeBridge that calls the IFTTT webhooks so it can appear on my Home app, but it’s nothing a cheap AC can do with a smart plug. I would return it, but I’m too lazy to uninstall it from my window. Not recommended.
