Great radio
I researched radios before I purchased and all reviews I saw were good and not just those on Amazon. I selected what I thought was the best in construction and features. Very compact and easy to use. I love that it has several means to charge regular batteries, UBS, solar and crank. I looked up the best frequency for my city but it was already tuned to that channel when it arrived. Flashlight had several brightness and it even has a dog whistle. It took a long time to arrive although when ordered it was only to be a few days. I received notice of its delay but was not given an expected time frame. I wanted it before a hurricane event and it arrived mayb a week before Hurricane Fracine gave us an unwanted visit. The radio costs more than many but well worth it for quality and features.

Prepared for next hurricane in FL
I live in Orlando and bought the radio at the end of the 2023 hurricane season, so I haven’t used it for it’s primary purpose. Despite that, the flashlight, radio, and charging capabilities are more than I expected. The light is more than bright enough, with 2 different settings. The radio works really well…I even started using it in a truck purchased from Japan, which only has AM. The sound quality is adequate in the car, but it’s really not intended to replace a car radio, and FM/AM reception is great. The solar charging is a great feature since I leave it in the truck to self charge. I also tested the phone charging feature and it works as advertised. It’s a must have on all road trips now because of what I noted above. It’s easy to use and very intuitive. I intend to purchase for my kids to keep in their apts and/or cars.

Decent Emergency Radio
Living along the Pacific Coast, I wanted an emergency radio that would alert me to potential tsunamis and fires. This radio works well. Reception is decent. The radio is easy to use. You can use the included Lithium Ion batterie, alkaline batteries or a crank handle to keep the radio working in a power loss. That is important to have in an emergency situation. You can turn audio notification of emergency alerts on. When an alert comes in, there is a LOUD siren that will awaken even the soundest sleeper. The downside is that every Wednesday there is a test of the Emergency Alert System. So the siren goes off. I ended up turning emergency alerts off because the neighbors complained about the noise. There may be no way that Midland can distinguish between a test and an actual alert, so they may not have a choice. What I would like to see is a way to turn the sound volume down on the alert siren and if possible, turn test sirens off.All in all, this is a good radio to have in an emergency.

Great Radio fir the price point
This radio has clear receiver reception and the digital displays is clear as well as easy to âdial inâ stations. The compact design makes this radio easy to carry and store. The productâs material seems to be sturdy and should hold up to daily use as well as moderate âroughâ outdoor conditions/activity.I have owned other Midland electronics over the years and have found them to be an economical product line. So far, I am very pleased with my purchase of this Midland weather radio. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get value for their bucks.

They thought of (almost) everything.
This is one fantastic emergency radio.First of all, it can be powered 4 different ways. It comes with a replaceable 18650 lithium (3.7v 2600mAh) cell which you can charge via a USB cable, via the small built-in solar panel, or via the hand crank. It also has a USB out, so you can use it as a power bank to charge your phone. (For that use-case, I’d bring along a second 18650 that’s pre-charged.)IMPORTANT NOTE: Not all 18650 batteries are the same physical size. If you have, say, a flashlight that takes 18650’s, be sure to test swapping out the batteries ahead of time, if you want to count on being able to do that.If all else fails, it’ll also take 6 AA’s as the power source. You can use rechargeable (NiMH) AA batteries, but they’ll have to recharged externally. Only the 18650 battery can be charged internally. Note: There’s a switch you have to flip to tell the radio to use either the 18650 or the AA’s. This means that the AA’s are normally not connected. Thus, if you keep a set of AA’s inside, they won’t be slowly drained. So, it’s as good a place to store them as any. (Of course, they can still leak alkaline eventually, but that’s easily cleaned up with anything acidic like vinegar or lemon juice.)The sound quality of both the built-in speaker and the earphone output are more than adequate for a portable radio. The earphone jack works with either a 3-conductor (TRS) 3.5mm plug (headphones with no mic), OR a 4-conductor TRRS (headphones with a mic). The hard plastic shell seems quite rugged. With the rubberized buttons, it’s also water resistant, although I’d still store it in a sealed container when not in use. The telescoping antenna stows inside the unit, so only the tip is exposed, and that’s mostly protected by the carrying handle. (Some local stations come in just fine without even extending the antenna.)The LED flashlight isn’t overly bright. You won’t be using it as a searchlight, but the two brightness settings are more than sufficient for local work. The SOS setting seems bright enough to be seen for miles, as long as it’s pointed in roughly the right direction.I only have a few minor nits: (1) switching between bands is sluggish to the point that you’re not sure you pressed the button hard enough, so you press it again, and then it goes too far and you have to press it twice more to get back. (2) It’s not obvious that the Band button is also the on/off switch (hold for 2 secs to turn off). The natural tendency is to press the big button on top, but that’s only for the flashlight. (3) There’s a dog-whistle function that I have no use for, and thankfully it’s not at all in the way. But if you wanted to use it, you would have no idea how without consulting the manual. So, you’ll want to stick a reminder label on there somewhere. All in all, this is a highly functional emergency radio that appears to be quite sturdy and dependable.

Definitely need and works great. Really good sound.
I used to have a crank radio/emergency/light combo. It gave up. Never bothered to replace it. Had a really bad storm, power went out. Phone charge did not last. Did not have radio. Rounded up the dogs and we all went to the bathtub. After going through a tornado when I was 10, I wasnt taking any chances. Come to find out a tornado hit just half mile from the house. Being a former quality super, I Did much extensive research and ended up with this unit. I don’t have to rely on electricity to run it. Crank or batteries. Radio, emergency lights, and weather alert system relieves some of my anxiety about storms now.

Fantastic and well-built radio. The biggest complaint I have about other emergency radios is that when you store them in your emergency supply kit, the battery is dead when you really need it. If you pull this radio out and the battery is dead, you still have options! AAA batteries, solar power, and when all else fails, a hand crank.

I bought this little radio for my work office to listen to the news while at my desk…PROS; looks and feels high quality…Great volume and has a flash light that l found came in handy…Cons;…I found the settings difficult to navigate and went through too many batteries after only a few days of minimal use…Also the batteries were very difficult to take out as you cant pull them out with just your fingers..I think this product would be great on a hiking trip or a day trek but not for regular home use…
