Worked perfectly when glass company said they couldnât repair the chip
My son got a small chip in windshield, about the size of a nickel. Glass repair company said that it wasnât able to repair the chip so I began looking into DIY repair. Figured it was worth a shot, worse case scenario, he had to buy a whole new windshield which was where he was at now. Rain-x kit arrived, I watched a video then went outside to try my luck. It was a cold & cloudy day but I had to do it anyway. Followed instructions, which are very easy. Added drops to the setup per instructions & waited 6 minutes, twisted out the tamper to release air bubbles, replaced & waited another 6 minutes. Checked suction cups quite a bit to be sure they held. First application went well & I let it dry for about 2 hours. Once dry I scraped off excess & felt a small divet so did another round. This time 1 suction cup kept popping up so I stayed right there pushing it back into place, managed to get a drop of rubbing alcohol under it & that kept it in place. After following all steps once again, waiting & drying & scraping, I felt no divet remaining. I was worried about the crack & whether or not I covered it completely but knew that I wouldnât know for sure until we took it out & turned on the heat (late November in VT). Because it was cold & I wanted to be sure it had cured enough sitting outside, we waited 2 days before testing it out. My son has driven it a few times now with the heat turned on & it hasnât spread at all-seems to have worked perfectly & has saved us $400 in windshield replacement costs. Definitely well worth the money. My only very minor complaint is not having some small container included in kit to store resin bottle upright in. I pushed cap on as tight as possible & put it on table. It got knocked over & resin leaked out onto table unbeknownst to me. When I picked the bottle up to put away I noticed it had leaked. When I wiped it up, it took the finish off the table, leaving a small indentation where the finish was removed. Ended up finding an empty Airborne bottle to store the small tube in.

Not bad!
Worked perfectly on a recent star crack in my immediate line of sight in one car. Less well on a large crack (<12") on another vehicle, but I think it will stop the crack spread. Suction cups didn't hold very well. Think next time I'll clean the windshield with alcohol to have a cleaner grip surface. Will keep on hand to repair cracks as they occur.

Reduced Visibility of Damage
Used a similar windshield repair product from a different brand some years ago. That one did an excellent job of preventing the damage from spreading, though the chip was still clearly visible. When I had another windshield chip to repair, I bought the Rain-X kit, expecting the same results as I had gotten from the other brand. Rain-X was clearly superior, as it repaired the chip so well it is barely visible anymore. There was even leftover resin, so it can be used to repair multiple chips. The instructions were easy to understand, and the repair itself was simple to do. I would definitely recommend this product.

Doesnât hide cracks
I followed the instructions to a tee but the crack was still visible. Gave the liquid plenty of time to penetrate, and tried slight pressing from the inside glass. The crack was always visible. But⦠after 2 days the crack hasnât gotten bigger so maybe that alone makes this worth while. The chip that started the crack was too close to the edge so couldnât use the chip-fix stuff. The instructions are well-written and easy to follow.

Where has this been all of my life?
I live in a rural area without many good options for rock chip repair. And the state sands the road so rock chips are a common occurrence. normally when we got a rock chip we would stress about getting it in as we both work when the local shop is open (they usually complain about rock chip repair anyways). we recently purchased a used car and got a rock chip almost immediately. upon further inspection of the windshield had around 20 rock chips. I’m surprised it wasn’t cracked. This had enough in it to do all of them with some left over. I did cut some of the strips in half to use on the smaller chips. The biggest issue with this is the suction cup applicator. It doesn’t work very well (especially in cooler temperatures). I ended up only using it for the larger ones ones. The others I just used the tube and put a strip on it. It seemed to work ok that way and was much more painless. would recommend if going to a shop is a pain or too costly.

Clear resin, if done properly, you almost can’t tell.
If you apply this product correctly, it will be hard to tell there was a crack in the first place. I was impressed by the transparency of this item once applied. AND I don’t need to call my insurance company to repair or replace. One of the understated reasons why this item is good is because it will PREVENT the crack from spreading due to extreme weather conditions. ie hot to cold or cold to hot temperatures. Your local stores may have this item on hand but if they don’t, you can always buy here. Not a bad price but also not the cheapest. Still though, better than paying insurance or a repair guy to do it when they would use the exact same thing to fix it. Make sure to read the instruction manual fully before starting the process. This will ensure success. If the resin is not clear and glass like, then it was probably applied incorrectly. Everything you need is in this little packet. Razor blade, suction tool, resin, pressure screw etc. This was a good find! Hey fellow Army buddies, this might not be glue but is still NOT edible 🙂

Works Great!
I was quoted $90.00 to repair a small chip by my local windshield repair company. I bought this and the chip is now completely invisible. The most difficult part of the whole process was having to use a step ladder to reach the chip and then picking a day we had enough sun to cure the patch. Really good instructions, easy to follow and most importantly worked great. I was very happy to be able to save the money. And there was enough of the product left over to do at least 1 more chip.

A Disappointing Experience
Bad: The suction power was mediocre at best. Despite following the instructions carefully, the repair results were underwhelming, particularly for the chip we had. We had hoped to delay replacing the windshield, but the damage still spread, leaving us disappointed with the overall effectiveness of the product.Good: clear instructions for use.

Doesnât completely fixes it but makes a difference of day and night.

Great product. It won’t remove the crack, but will make it difficult to spot the crack.

Ottimo prodotto!!!
