I think itâs better than a Dyson
Iâve owned a Dyson V8 Animal and recently found myself in the market for another cordless stick vac but couldnât bring myself to spend Dyson money again. Enter the Shark IX141 pet. I can honestly say there are a few minor cons but I prefer the Shark to the Dyson.⢠Itâs lighter than the Dyson. At no time did my arm feel tired – not that the Dyson was exceptionally heavy but the Shark is noticeably lighter.⢠The power head feels well, more powerful. It almost feels at times like itâs self propelling itself.⢠The Shark is quieter. My pets donât seem to mind it and I can hold a conversation at normal volume while using it.⢠The Shark is easier to empty. This could just be a preference thing but I find the cup empties with a gentle shake and I donât often have to pull anything out.I found the suction quality to be equal to the Dyson if not better, including picking up cat hair from the rug. I used the Shark on my stairs since itâs easy to hold and maneuver. I just used my central vac on the stairs within the last week and I filled the cup doing a quick run over the stairs. I canât make a direct comparison to the Dyson but I think the Shark did a surprisingly good job.The Shark does not come with a wall hanger. The Dyson came with a wall hanging charger and it was convenient to hang it up to store it while also charging it. The Shark does fold down nice and compact for storage so not the end of the world, just an extra step to plug it in when done.I was able to vacuum an entire large carpeted area, a larger bare floor space and carpeted stairs and only used about half the battery. I donât know that Iâd have gotten a full 40 minutes of use but I got enough to get my cleaning done.Overall, I prefer the Shark and for half the money Iâd say it was a very worthwhile purchase!

Great vacuum
I bought 3 different cordless stick vacuums, all around $150- this Shark Pet IX141, a Bissell Powerlifter 3789X, and a Black & Decker Powerseries Max. I tried them all and these are my comparisons:Battery life: I tested all three using the main floor attachment. The Shark lasted the longest at 27 minutes. Bissell was 18 minutes, B&D was 13 minutes. Supposedly using the handheld attachments, the battery life will last longer, but I havenât tested that yet.Features: All three vacuums had the same attachments for the most part, the main floor head, a crevice tool, and a brush tool. The B&D came with a wall mount, which I liked, but the other two did not. The Shark does have a way to store it where you attach the handheld vacuum to the stick part, and you can plug it into the wall to charge that way. I liked that the Bissell and B&D both had removable batteries, so that was a strike against the Shark. But upon further research, you can still buy a new battery, if needed, from Bissell, or it looks like there are some generic ones out there. But hopefully it will last a while.Ease of use: The Shark felt the heaviest in my hand of the three while vacuuming. However, it does seem to have the largest dust cup, and a more powerful motor, so I thought those made the extra weight worth it. Other than that, you can push it very easily, it glides smoothly over the floors. You do have to remove the handheld vacuum to empty the dust cup, whereas the other two, you can just remove the dust cup from the vacuum to empty. But this is not a big issue for me.Over all, while I liked some of the features in the other vacuums better, this Shark had the best performance with the battery life and suction power.

Itâs not for every house
I’m not totally on board with this machine, but I’m also cheap and already have multiple other cleaning machines (Bisell carpet cleaner, Dyson corded vacuum, steam cleaner, corded hand held Dirt Devil, shop vac), so this machine fills a niche for cordless convenience in our house. Still, not sure that Iâm totally sold on this. If youâre really looking a deep cleaner for a fully carpeted single home over 1700 sq ft and this is going to be your ONLY vacuum, I suggest going with a more expensive cordless vacuum or one with interchangeable battery pack. My aunt has the more expensive model with the bendable wand and it is a lot more powerful (and louder). She also has three spare batteries for it. If youâre just looking for a surface clean and some dusting, this does the job nicely. If you live in a 900 sq ft apartment, this will be probably be awesome if you have floor/closet space to store it. If you want the convenience of a wall mounted unit that charges on it’s mount, this is NOT it.We live in a two story townhome just under 1800sq ft. Off the bat, I wished there was more suction power. It was almost anticlimactic when I turned it on for the first time bc it was SO quiet! Second, I wish the battery lasted longer or it could be detached and switched out for a backup battery. The battery is built into the motor/ canister house and relies on a cord plugged into it to charge. I knew it was 40 minutes of battery life going in; I underestimated how much I could actually clean in 40 minutes. Iâd definitely have to break up my cleaning into sessions if this is what I am relying on to clean a whole house, top down (including furniture surfaces). Third, it would’ve been nice for them to design a way for the two accessories to attach off the wand or floor nozzle so that itâs always at hand and doesnât get misplaced. Fourth: some option to mount this on the wall, even if it has to be purchased separately, would be helpful. The pluses: Itâs quiet. Low price point, especially at 50% off. Light enough my kids and use with ease. There is a light on the floor nozzle. Itâs great for some quick vacuuming around the dining table since my kids eat like Cookie Monster and vacuuming is almost a must after every meal, stairs and crevices that my corded Dyson was unwieldy and troublesome with. Itâll be convenient for cars, which means our car will be cleaner more often. Also, note it only takes but a few seconds to separate the top and hang it off the wand. I don’t see it as a big deal to spare a few seconds to press a button for separation. It takes me longer to rewrap the cord back around my Dyson. The vacuum absolutely has the ability to stand upright on its own if the motor/canister is hung from the wand.Update 1/25/24: Been a few months. Loving it so far. Definitely vacuum a lot more often bc of how light and easy it is to use. Definitely wish it had more suction power, and affirms the idea if you are wanting a cordless as your sole vacuum cleaner, definitely invest in a pricier model. Also, wanted to add something as I was finally confident enough to recycle the packaging the vacuum came in: I have to point out the packaging is quite impressive as it is entirely paper based, which is such a welcome relief given the amount of plastics I get just from ordering a take out meal. Zero styrofoam and plastics in this packaging. Completely flattens down except for the two compressed paper fiber structures. Bravo to their packaging engineer.

Works as described.
We LOVE this portable vacuum! We have two parrots, and naturally have to vacuum three or four times per day. Vacuum is lightweight, small, easy to store, powerful and picks up all things easily. No cord to drag around, and holds a charge for several days.

Hace su trabajo sin sorprenderme. Comparando con dyson considero que le falta calidad. Pero cumple con su función.

Purchased this vacuum but was really disappointed. Suction is below average but what I most did not like how heavy it is. After 3 minutes of vacuuming it is hard to continue. So that is why I returned it.
