An amazing skillet for the price, or frankly twice the price
50 bucks for an amazing cast iron skillet, that is now my go to skillet. Ditched all my non-stick skillets. This works so brilliantly. Sear a good steak – oh yes. Do a stir-fry – check. Make an omelet with minimal fuss and no sticking – definitely. I was looking at a $200 dollar cast iron pan from a high-end cooking store. Decided to try the Lodge pan first. I’m really pleased with it.Clean-up is easy. Put some water in the pan after use, boil the water for a couple of minutes, tip-out the water. Let the pan cool a bit. Wipe out the pan with paper towels. Let the pan dry for a bit. Add a bit of olive oil the the pan. Wipe the oil around. Put the pan away until it’s time to use it again. Don’t use any detergent or harsh cleansers.

Love the pan. Silicon handle is worthless
This van works great! So far I have been able to cook everything I want in it no problem. it came preseasoned it is way better already. I can have it cleaned up faster than my old ceramic pans.A few people mentioned what they thought was a defect from the factory. Lodge says it’s a result of their preseason process. I’ve had mine a few weeks and mine is still there. This does not bother me. I received also had a small casting defect in the loop opposite the handle. This also does not bother me.The silicon sleeve/grip is absolutely worthless. It does not fit tightly on the handle and does not provide positive grip. I absolutely expect someone to drop the pan or have it flip over on them when trying to use the silicon sleeve.Walmart also sells these pans in various sizes without the silicon grip for less money. If you’re interested in one of these, swing by and check them out. Then you can buy whatever you want without risk of getting something you did not expect.

    Heavy
Never had a cast iron pan before. Have only used it in oven so far to make “Dutch Baby” pancake, and it worked fine. Tried stove top pancakes and they burned, but I’m sure it was me. Useful to have those little plastic scrapers.

    Nice skillet
Great piece of cookware. Great price. The silicon handle cover is awesome, can use it on other cast iron pieces too.

Better than the previous season-at-home model. Silicone hot handle holder useless!
I don’t think there is anyone out there who grew up in the sixties who did not own one of these. I did! The kinds I had needed to be seasoned after you bought them, and were pretty fussy, and if not perfectly maintained, were relegated to the “camping utensils” category, and finally ditched. I decided to give a try to the new “factory seasoned” fry pan. And since I acutely remember burning my fingers on the handle if I was not really careful, ordered the silicone handle insert.Well, the pan did not disappoint. Cooked everything in it, from scrambled eggs, salmon fillets, stir fry peas/chicken (to which I added penne w sauce) and nothing sticks, and comes off with water and brush. So why the 4 stars? I forgot how heavy this thing is. I have the 10″ version, and it is still almost impossible to lift it up with my left hand and move the contents to a serving dish. I almost always need help from my spouse to hold it up over the serving dish. And here is the worst part! The Made in China silicone handle sleeve is a poor fit over the handle of the Made in USA pan. It is very loose. The first time I tried to lift it up using the silicone handle sleeve, the pan twisted inside the sleeve and almost fell onto the glass cooktop!!!The only thing the sleeve is useful for is to hold the pan while I stir its contents, but a bar towel works just as well. If I could just return the sleeve, I would.Save yourself $5 and buy the version without the red silicone hot handle holder!

I purchased this item after watching a docu about how they are and have always been made. Easy to clean NO soap, have warned the kids this is the family heirloom to come. Cooks steak really good.

I had become increasingly disillusioned with the world of frying pans. Non-stick pans don’t stay non-stick for long, and it was getting hard not to worry that me and my family were eating a little of that smooth, shiny and rather toxic coating each day along with our breakfast. The non-toxic ceramic alternatives promised much but were expensive and didn’t really deliver. I love enamelled pans but they are a pain to clean after frying.Enter the cast-iron pan. My new true love. You WILL NOT BELIEVE how absolutely excellent and genuinely non-stick they are. I am converted. Husband is converted. And the children had better be converted too, because they will be inheriting them in good-as-new condition. The one drawback with these pans is that they are rather heavy. If you enjoy flipping pancakes one-handed and are not particularly muscular in the wrists, you might be frustrated by their weight. But if (like me) you have an induction cooker, the weight is an advantage, as they don’t slide around the hob like lightweight pans do.Why on earth does absolutely everybody not use cast-iron pans? I imagine capitalism has something to do with it.Political speculation aside: buy one of these and you absolutely won’t regret it.

I was having problems with regular frying pans. They were overheating the meat, even on low heat, and causing burning on chicken and steak. I’ve used this cast iron pan for one week now on chicken, fish, and steak, and I’ve had no problems with burning. Everything cooks really well in normal timings (I don’t have to cook the meat longer on low heat, as I did with regular pans).I seasoned my pan with oil a couple times before using it and that makes it very easy to clean after with just water and a plastic scouring pad (no soap required). I dry the washing water with a paper towel and then add some oil, wipe the oil to cover the surface, and then put it away. It’s a bit heavy, but the results are amazing so I don’t mind the extra weight.
