    Beautiful, quality made skillet
I wanted to make fried potatoes & onions but knew it is best done in a cast iron skillet. Amazon to the rescue! In two days my irder arrived! This Lodge skillet & lid is amazing! Unlike my cast irons from past years, this has a double handle which makes it easier to hold — for those of us who are a bit older. I washed this skillet first with a tiny dot of detergent, rinsed well & dried it then put it on top of the eye with a little heat to finish drying. I then added a tiny amount of oil, used a paper towel to spread the oil inside the skillet and on the edges (and lid). I added my oil before adding my onions & peppers, cooking ,ust until they were transparent, then add potatoes & seasonings, and cook on medium temperature til done. OMG! Just like Mom use to make them!! The fried potatoes and onions turned out great with a bit of a ‘crust’ around edges. Then I wanted fried apples to go with my Oatmeal (I’d made on the side.) They were so good! I scrubbed pany remaining potatoes out, wiped with a paper towel. Then added my vegan butter, let it melt and sizzle before adding sliced apples. Tonight, homemade vegan Naan! I cannot wait to use this skillet again! I love to make cornbread, pancakes, and fried foods also using cast iron. (Note: tomatoe based dishes don’t work well in cast iron skillets!) Lodge packaged the product well and gave clear instructions. Foods really taste better to me when using cast iron than using the typical non-stick pan. Place your skillet on medium heat til butter sizzles, then add cornbread mixture. Place skillet in oven til bread is done. Oh my goodness the crunch you’ll get in edges when it is done! Delish! Thanks Lodge for an amazing product. Btw, I also purchased the silicone holders to make it easier to pick up the lid and two more to go on the skillet handles which make it very easy to pick up the hot skillet! All in, the skillet with the lid will be a great addition to my kitchen and at a great price!

Amazing! Scrambled eggs with cheese did not stick to it!
Amazing! Scrambled eggs with cheese did not stick to it! And superb heat distribution. Just give it a little time at a lower setting like a minute or so and then gradually increase the heat. No problems with cheddar cheese even at 300° setting. It didn’t stick. Please remember not to put this in the dishwasher. And wash it and make sure you dry it thoroughly when you finish washing it don’t let it sit there. Today I found out that somebody who has several of these pots and pans put it in their dishwasher and wonders why it isn’t pretty much non-stick.So even though it says it’s pre-seasoned, when I got it I put a little bit of avocado oil in it and smeared it around with a paper towel making sure I covered every inch of it and then put it on my induction stove ha a low temperature, 200° for five minutes then 260 for a minute and then 340° for about an hour. The next day I cooked scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, ham, onions, jalapeños, and potatoes. I co those at 300°. It cleaned up easily with nothing sticking to it a sponge did it all in for most of it I didn’t even need to use the sponge. And don’t just take it from high heat and then put cold water on it. Just stick it on the counter and let it cool down or keep it on your stove and let it cool down on its own.I don’t want anyone to get the impression that these are temperamental. They’re not. With simple care these pots literally last and get passed on through generations. Mine did.

    Nice Cast Iron pan..
I needed a cast iron pan to make and bake certain things.. this is the perfect size and I like the pre-seasoned feature.. problem is.. I’m having trouble figuring out where to store it because I don’t want to set other pots or pans on it to stack after I wipe it with vegetable oil… hmmmmm

Pretty good pan, super easy to clean
This is a nice pan, especially for the sale price we got it for. It does have a couple of flaws/uneven areas in the cooking space, but not really that big of a deal. I will also say that when trying to sear steaks on it twice now that some of the unevenness of the pan caused some issues with cooler spots and the tallow to pool in certain areas. Again not to say that the pan doesn’t work for us, but it does better in the oven so far than on the stove top. We tried it on the grill, as well, and that worked okay, just took longer for it to heat up to a usable level than I thought it would. On a big upside, it is super easy to clean!

I’ve used this many times now. You better clean and dry asap.or it rusts in minute. Crisps the sides of my baked goods so nicely.

As many others have said, this pan is perfect for one or two person meals. Stove top or oven safe, I find it ideal. Lodge quality, what’s not to like?

Wer mit Guss umgehen kann, wird diese Pfanne lieben! Ordentlich eingebrannt und nur mit heißem gereinigt wird sie vererbbar sein! Kein Ankleben, sehr sehr gute Hitzeverteilung.

It’s HEAVY. And it gets HOT. And requires care. I washed, seasoned, and stuck it in a hot oven for about 20-30 minutes before initial use and repeated the process a couple more times between each use. It requires several seasonings to make it totally non stick to my personal satisfaction. Nothing sticks!! Cooks, sears, bakes beautifully. Conducts heat perfectly, and my fried eggs slides around the skillet, and in my small cast iron frying pan, the omelettes are perfectly cooked. Real crispy bacon. Fat is this pan’s best friend before, during and after cooking.I wash in warm/hot water only. Wipe dry. On occasion I put it on the hob on medium heat. Then grease lightly. I use lard or olive oil. Wipe excess grease with paper towel.I’ve never had to put this pan on high heat for anything. I typically preheat the pan and cook on medium, or low. The best thing is…. I won’t be buying anymore chemically treated non stick pans that only lasts 2-5 years before ending up in a landfill somewhere.
