Great, if you know how to use cast iron
I purchased this grill/griddle instead of getting a Blackstone griddle. I have a good propane bbq grill and a pellet smoker, so I didn’t want another large thing taking up space on my deck. I really love it. I have read all of the reviews of this and I have to say, the majority of the issues with it, are from people who don’t fully understand how to maximize the use of ANY cast iron. The first photo I shared shows the flat part of the griddle as it shows up. You can see it has a lot of lilttle bumps all over the surface. A cast iron connoisseur will tell you that you have to sand this surface down. Even though it says it’s pre- seasoned, you still need to sand it down smooth and then reseason it. I always season all of my cast iron by cooking bacon on it. Sure, the first few peices stick, but the second and third batch come out fine. It will smoke quite a lot the first couple batches of bacon, so you may want to do them out on your outside grill. You want to let the grill cool all the way down between batches. I usually season mine over 3 days. One batch of bacon each morning. Once you sand it down, fry up three batches of bacon and eggs on it, it will be perfectly seasoned. I NEVER use soap on my cast iron. If I need to clean it at all, I will simply run it under hot water and let it dry. I’ve seen people complain about it rusting. Yes, it is iron. It will rust if it’s not properly seasoned. If you clean off the rust, with sandpaper is best, and then season that area properly, it won’t rust.I grew up using only cast iron skillets and dutch ovens. I can tell you, there is no better non-stick pot or pan out there. With other non-stick skillets, you have to worry about getting the non-stick material in your food. You have to worry about scratching it, or the coating peeling off. With cast iron, you can use metal utinsels and and scrape all you like. You’re not going to hurt it, or the season. The season is down in the pores of the metal. The only way you’re going to get it out is if you use soap and hot water. If you do, just reseason it again. There are numerous sites out there showing how to treat and season cast iron. If you’re thinking about getting this, i suggest you do a search and educate yourself on it before using it wrong and then putting negative reviews up. I have a couple skillets I have used for over 20 years and have never reseasoned them. I love cast iron.

I love this SO much.
So, I wanted a griddle. Being an avid cast iron user I was really put off by the the electric counter ones around $60.00 or so that just looked like they were terrible quality and made out of who knows what. I pretty immediately decided the right answer would be to stick to my cast iron roots. My experience with cast iron HAS BEEN it’s one and done. Not to mention, it’s not very expensive generally.I made a MISTAKE though. I assumed that all cast iron was created equally. I wanted to save money. So I bought a Walmart “Ozark Trails” cast iron griddle. Despite it being literally SHARP I figured it would be ok. When heating it up it sounded like an explosion and it cracked all the way across. It was a traumatic experience. To the point that when I’m cooking with cast iron now I have the urge to duck and kind of twitch when it begins to heat up. I should point out I feel like I have reasonable common sense, this griddle was at room temperature before I began heating it’s not like I pulled it out of the fridge, freezer, or even basement for that matter. Also, I cook on cast iron daily and I’ve never had that happen before. It REALLY scared me!Anyway, as I mentioned above as an avid cast iron user in my daily cooking life, I have quite a few Lodge pans and I’ve never experienced that with Lodge. So I decided to try one more time and I went with a brand that was tried and true to me. I bought this! It was SUCH a good decision. Not only have I not had the loud explosion or breaking that I had with the other I’ve found that I use this griddle for almost EVERYTHING. It lives on my stove and gets used almost every day. I chose to use Lodge’s factory seasoning rather than reseasoning myself and I’ve not had anything stick to it. It makes amazing eggs, pancakes, burgers…. It’s really just been a joy. It’s worth every penny in my opinion and is now 100% a staple in my kitchen.I bought mine on amazon open box for $36 but I see new atm is $40 and it’s definitely a great value and worth every bit of that, absolutely no doubt!

Extraordinary!
This pan could be used as workout equipment if youâre tight for space! Haha! I Love cast iron pans and I wasnât expecting the quality of this grill pan when I bought it! I will probably be leaving it to family in my will, i am that confident in the lasting ability of this pan! Ive had a few grills in my time, and always enjoyed being able to cook multiple items at once. This grill is not as wide as I might like, but then Im sure I would never be able to lift it! It will never warp, as others have in the past. It does not have a grease reservoir, which I miss, but is not a game changer. When researching cast iron pans in the past, this brand was rated very highly; now I can see why. Great engagement/house warming gift!

Not a very good picture but, those were two massive rib steaks. The griddle fits nicely across two burners on my stove. It gets nice and hot, consistently across the grill enabling an excellent sear! Itâs dead easy to clean, just stick it in the sink and give it a good scrub. Heavy but not so heavy I canât lift it. I think it smoked a bit the first time I used it but that wasnât an issue. For grilled cheese, I think it was my error. I burned them! The griddle gets so hot, I should have been more careful with the heat setting and turned the burners down.I am loving this griddle and will use it whenever I donât feel like going outside to bar-b-que steaks etc.

Size is perfect (easy to handle) and works on my induction cooktop (flat side down)

We are very happy with our griddle and have used it lots of times on our campstove. It’s the perfect size, I thought I wanted a bigger one but then it would not have had as even heat distribution. It is easy to clean I just put a lil oil on it scrape it with a flipper and wipe off the food bits and extra oil with a paper towel. It was important to me to buy Canadian or USA made so it checked off that box and I think the quality is better than some cheaper made in china cast iron I’ve bought.
